NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (14/SEP/2011) .- Yahoo, AOL and Microsoft will join each other to sell their ad inventory, according to published reports Wednesday
Citing unnamed sources, the blog AllThingsD reported that executives of Yahoo Inc., AOL Inc. and Microsoft Corp. informed web publishers and ad buyers on the plan Tuesday during a presentation.
Yahoo and AOL declined to confirm the report. A Microsoft representative did not immediately return messages seeking comment sent.
A deal could help companies offset the rapid growth of Google and Facebook in the lucrative market for internet advertising.
In a statement, Yahoo said it has a “longstanding relationship” with AOL and Microsoft and will continue working with them in the coming years. AOL said it continues to seek ways to expand their relationship with publishers, including Yahoo and Microsoft.
